Nikos Katsis is the Chief Asset Management Officer at DESFA.

Graduate of the School of Engineering at the University of Patras and the University of Athens, Nikos Katsis holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering and a master’s degree (MSc) in Chemical Products Marketing. With more than 28 years of experience in the natural gas and chemical industries in Greece, he is a distinguished member of the Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE).

Mr. Katsis has been tasked with managing the National Natural Gas Transmission System (ESMFA) and Greece’s only Liquefied Natural Gas Terminal in Revithoussa, with a focus on ensuring technical capabilities and the optimal utilization of the entire network. It actively participates in adapting DESFA’s infrastructure to facilitate the fastest possible transition to renewable energy sources, with an emphasis on the network’s readiness for the injection of hydrogen and biomethane, in line with the company’s objectives.

Mr. Katsis is actively involved in all efforts to strengthen security of supply in the Greek natural gas market, working closely with all stakeholders across the entire energy supply chain, particularly during periods of heightened market volatility. Throughout his career, he has been actively involved and has conducted a series of studies on the operation and development of the Hellenic Natural Gas Transmission System (ESFA).

With an excellent command of English and German, in addition to his native language, Greek, he is a prominent figure in the energy sector, leading and innovating in his field with dedication and expertise.
