
Stavros Avgoustides is a career diplomat who has been serving at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus since 1998.
On 2 October 2023 he was accredited as Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to the Hellenic Republic, based in Athens, with parallel accreditation in the Republic of Albania and Georgia.

During the Presidency of the Republic of Cyprus in the Council of the European Union in 2012, he successfully chaired the EU Council Working Party on Consular Affairs (COCON).
At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nicosia, he served in the Directorate of Protocol and Consular Affairs (1998-1999 and 2011-2014), in the Directorate of European Affairs (2001-2002), and as Head of the Middle East Department of the Middle East and Africa Directorate (2018-2019).

In 2018 he was awarded the Order of the Knight of the Order of the Knight of the Mandara – First Class by the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, in recognition of his substantial contribution to the consolidation, strengthening and development of bilateral relations between Cyprus and Bulgaria, as well as his support to local and international charitable initiatives and actions focusing on vulnerable children in Bulgaria.
Alongside his academic career, he is a self-taught contemporary visual artist. He has exhibited and donated his works in the context of charity exhibitions, contributing to charitable causes and promoting the rich culture of Cyprus through creative collaborations.
He is married to Mrs Daniela Ioannidou and they have two children.
