Håkan Emsgård was appointed Ambassador of Sweden to Greece in January 2025.

Prior to coming to Greece, he was Ambassador to Egypt (2021-2025). He has served as Ambassador to the Netherlands and to the international organisations in the Hague (2010-2015), with parallel accreditation to Luxembourg (2012-2014).

Ambassador Emsgård has held various positions at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, including Deputy Director General and Head of the EU Department (2005-2010). He has also served at the Prime Minister’s office, the Ministry of Education, the Finance Ministry and at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in London.
